The question was not what to build, but what this corner deserved: the corner of the colorful houses, one of the most photographed in Mazatl\u00e1n, steps from Plazuela Machado, the \u00c1ngela Peralta Theater and Olas Altas.<\/p>\n<p>The answer was not to build \u201canother development\u201d. It was to build a building that respected the scale, colors and rhythm of the Historic Center, and that inside offered what the Center had never had: contemporary residences, a heated pool in the central courtyard, gym, massage and steam room, coworking lounge and an elevator to every floor.<\/p>\n<h2>Built with INAH, 2022\u20132024<\/h2>\n<p>Construction began in February 2022 under the guidance of Mexico\u2019s National Institute of Anthropology and History, and the building opened its doors in August 2024. Contemporary inside.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>A name with history<\/h2>\n<p>It is named after Leona Vicario, one of the fundamental figures of Mexican Independence: a woman whose courage, conviction and independent spirit inspired the identity of the project. Her legacy is present from the building\u2019s own symbol, the lioness.<\/p>\n<p>At the back of the lobby, above the pool, a monumental mural of Leona Vicario dominates the space. Today Villa Vicario is an established community: neighbors who walk to the market, who host their children in December, who rent their residence when they travel.
